Easy guide to your admission
Find a doctor (specialist) then visit your health provider to request a referral.
Alternatively, your health provider will give you a referral to a specialist.
Complete the online admission form.
If you're a rehabilitation patient you don’t need to complete this step, however we recommend reading prior to coming to hospital.
Contact your private health insurer to ask what you are covered for, including any out-of-pocket expenses.
Discuss your procedure, outcomes, associated risks, alternatives and recovery with your specialist.
Make sure you have thoroughly read and understood the admissions information, patient guide and know what to expect on the day.
Report to the main reception on the day and time you have been advised.

FAQ for guests and visitors
Visitors for maternity patients are welcome 7 days a week at the following times:
- 2.30pm – 4pm and
- 6.30pm – 8pm
There are a dedicated rest periods prior to 11am and from 4pm - 6.30pm for maternity patients
Visitors for all other patients are welcome 7 days a week at the following times:
- 11am – 1pm
- 3pm – 8pm
There is a dedicated rest period for non-maternity patients throughout the hospital from 1pm – 3pm.
We ask visitors to be considerate of other patients and keep noise levels low when visiting, and supervise children at all times. Quiet hospitals help healing.
You are welcome to bring flowers to your loved ones excluding patients located on the ICU ward. For all other wards, flowers are welcome excluding lilies which are known to cause allergies in some people. Lilies are not allowed into the hospital to protect our patients, staff and visitors.
Visitor parking is available on-site, close to the main entrance. Please note the car park is not undercover. Parking fees apply at Epworth Geelong in the visitor parking area.
Temporary parking for patient pick-up and drop-off
15-minute temporary patient pick-up and drop-off zones are located outside both the main and rehabilitation entrances.
Temporary parking for Emergency patients
15-minute short-term parking is located outside the emergency department. This is for emergency patients only.
