The osteoarthritis rehabilitation group is tailored for people who have diagnosed osteoarthritis or other arthritis conditions.
The program covers a range of topics designed to help you manage your condition or support pre or post-surgical management; with the ultimate aim to increase your confidence in managing arthritis and undertaking regular physical activity.
What’s involved in the osteoarthritis rehabilitation program?
The osteoarthritis program is an outpatient program that runs twice a week for seven weeks.
Throughout the program you are supported by a rehabilitation physician specialising in arthritis, together with a range of allied health services which may include physiotherapy, exercise physiology, hydrotherapy, psychology, dietetics and occupational therapy.
Topics covered throughout the program include:
- information on how to manage your arthritis
- non-pharmacological pain management
- nutrition and weight management
- pacing and joint protection
- relaxation and mindfulness activities.
People who may benefit from this program include those with:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Psoriatic arthritis
